2010 Handcart days - Traditions: Then and Now

Game on the Lawn

Come to the opening of the Bountiful/Davis Handcart Days at the Bountiful/Davis Art Center.  June 30 – July 24
.  Opening reception Wednesday, June 30, 6:00pm.

I was honored again this year to show as one of the invited artists.  I entered "Game on the Lawn".  Croquet has been a tradition in our family.  A  fun game, but most of all to be together with family.  (Even when your ball gets smacked and thus propelled clear across the lawn!)  The lawn and house in this piece was inspired by our McKay family home in Huntsville, Utah.  It is the David McKay home, the birthplace of my grandfather, David O. McKay, ninth president of the LDS Church.

Come see the fine art of illustration at the BYU 30 Year Illustrator Alumni Show at BYU's Harris Fine Art Center.  Opening is Sat, June 19 from 7-9pm.  Promises to be a great exhibit.  They are holding a couple of events for us.  It's an honor to "hang" personally and in the show with these fine people and fine illustrators...BTW not "just" illustrators...ARTISTS!

I'm sure sorry to hear that Pino passed away May 25th, 2010.  He was/is a great influence on my work.  I almost got the chance to meet him last year here in Utah at Stanfield Fine Art in Park City.  He was booked to come to his opening, but was too ill to appear.  Not only was he a master painter/illustrator, from what I read and heard about him, he was a great man who loved his family.  My condolences to his family.

Be sure to see his work:  PINO ART COLLECTIONS
