Another great Holiday Show opening last night at BDAC. Still some nice pieces left. Go shop!
Mike Call will be giving a sculpture workshop on hands in Februrary. Don't miss it. Check my Infusion Workshop/Open Life Session page. Further details TBA.
I'm also going to do some workshops at BDAC. What a wonderful opportunity to be associated with such a tremendous institution. My professor, and master glazer, Anton Rasmussen was the first director of BDAC. I'll talk about Tony in a future post. I've really been blessed to have studied with the best. Check my Infusion Workshop/Open Life Session page for an overview and future details.
Well, I'm honored! I get to continue the BDAC life drawing tradition as monitor of their life sessions. We'll meet Wednesday evenings but further details are still in the works. It will be an open session for those who wish to draw, paint or sculpt from the live, undraped model. There will be no instruction, just time to hone skills. To my students at SLCC... no excuses! Come out and draw and paint and draw and paint more! Because we can always do MORE!
We, as artists, can NEVER get enough anatomy/life study. A lifelong process, which is often misunderstood by non-artists. The "undraped" definition seems to be accepted in the medical field, but bypassed or defined as an "undesireable element" when it comes to the art field. I think those folks should re visit Michelangelo, Raphael, Dean Cornwell, Haddon Sundblom and others in Fine Art and Illustration art history plus take artistic anatomy courses themselves to appreciate the knowledge, skill, respect and reverence it takes to interpret and understand artistically our beautiful gift that is the human body.
